Entrechaux, Vaison la Romaine, the Department of Vaucluse
Entrechaux
7 km southeast of Vaison La Romaine placed at the top of a rock, the castle of Entrechaux dominates
the valley of the riverOuvèze. The 1008 souls village Entrechaux is situated at the confluence of the river
Ouvèze and the river Toulourenc at the bottom of the Mont Ventoux.
The stormy past, first Celtic then Roman and from 1274 to 1791 under bishop rule, left its mark on the nature of the peaceable village.
Main activity today is the culture of: asparagus, cherries, melons, apricots and wine–growing.
Vaison la Romaine
Jewel of Roman Provence. Archaeological excavations of historical significance provide a rich
source into the people's everyday lives two thousand years past. The river Ouvèze splits the town Vaison La Romaine in half: The modern quarter and the
picturesque historical part dating from the 13th century.
The Old Town on the left bank is at the bottom of the castle ruin and built against a rock.
